CHERYL LYNN FASSER

LOCAL SINGER CHERYL LYNN DIES AT AGE 81

On television since she was a child, Cheryl Lynn was a regular performer on The Gene Carroll Show, a variety program that aired on WEWS every Sunday afternoon, entertaining households with local budding talent.

Part of the program featured acts competing for a return appearance on the show and possible future opportunities in show business, while the production number at the end showcased students like Cheryl from The Gene Carroll Studio.

As Cheryl matured into a teenager, she became one of the most popular performers on the show and developed her own fan base. People enjoyed her singing style and were impressed by her beauty.

After being coached by Gene Carroll and connecting with an agent after high school, Cheryl began a career as a professional singer. She performed as part of a trio, travelled the United States as a soloist, and was a featured singer with The Billy Lang Orchestra. During this period, she was fortunate to be able to travel to the countries of Canada and Greenland, enjoy the tropical island of Aruba, and even sing at one of the Inaugural Balls for President George H. W. Bush.

Eventually, however, fame could not compete with the other love of her life, her son David. She had to make a hard decision to choose between continuing a lucrative entertainment career or to experience the most challenging and fulfilling role in her life – – that of a full-time mother. She never looked back with regret, while years later, she was still recognized in public for the joy she had given to others through her singing.

Now that she has passed into the afterlife, Heaven has gained a new beautiful songbird. With a myriad of melodies and harmonies there, Heaven’s music pleasures must be incomparable. Yet, singing for Jesus must be one of the best glories of all – – congratulations, Cheryl, your voice has never sounded sweeter. Alleluia!
