EDWARD SZABO, age 94, passed away peacefully on May 21, 2022. Born in Cleveland on February 12, 1928 to Anna (nee Papp) and Andras Szabo (both deceased). Loving husband of Irma (nee Vargo) (deceased) and Lucille (nee Trittenbach) of 42 years; loving father of Cynthia Whiteman (James) and Robert Szabo (Renee); dearest grandfather of six and great-grandfather of two; dear brother of the following deceased: Andrew, Carl, George, James, Joseph, Ann and Elmer; dear uncle and friend of many. He spent most of his childhood in Maybee, MI where he learned to drive at age six on a farm owned by his godparents. U.S. Navy WWII Veteran. He worked as a truck driver for numerous companies for most of his adult life. After retiring in October of 1994, Ed remained highly active traveling (which often included cruising and trips to see family in other parts of the country), participating in numerous clubs, reading and volunteering for his churches. Family was extremely important to him, and he helped coordinate many family reunions over the years. Ed was known for his detailed stories of his past experiences and was never at a loss for words. In lieu of flowers family suggests memorial donations to Advent Lutheran Church (5525 Harper Rd., Solon, OH 44139) or the First Hungarian Reformed Church (14530 Alexander Rd., Walton Hills, OH 44146). Funeral services 11 a.m. Friday, May 27, 2022 at Advent Lutheran Church (5525 Harper Rd., Solon) with visitation from 10:30 a.m. until time of service.
