ELEANOR P. ONDRACEK (nee Wargo), age 97, of The Villages, FL. Beloved wife of Edmund (deceased) for 57 years; loving mother of Rebecca Smith (Dennis, deceased), Janet Glinsky (Gerard), Laura Liotta (Sam), and Carol Ball (Jay); ; loving grandmother of Chris Marinecz (Hollie), Katherine Kurfist (Scott), Robert Liotta (Julie), Kerry Stephens (Ronald), Joseph Liotta (Kate), Erin Raber (Loren), Gabe Glinsky (Jill), Lauren Ball (Patrick Lindstrom), and Adam Ball (Megan); loving great-grandmother of 22; dearest sister of Ted Wargo (deceased) (Aline) and Richard Wargo (Lois) (both deceased).
Eleanor and Ed met while living in the same neighborhood in Cleveland, OH. They were high school sweethearts and graduated from John Adams High School. Eleanor attended St Luke’s Nursing School and Ed was an electrician’s mate second class on a Navy supply ship during WWII. They were married on January 18, 1947, after Ed came home from the Navy and finished high school. Eleanor was also enrolled in the Army Nurse Corps but did not serve. Ed was an electrical mechanic for the Horvitz Construction Company. Together they raised four daughters in Maple Heights, OH. Later in life, Eleanor returned to nursing at Hillcrest Hospital and Anna Marie Nursing Home. With the additional income they were able to provide college educations for their daughters. Eleanor loved to sew and made everything from curtains and slipcovers to skirts and homecoming and prom dresses. She was a great cake decorator also. They enjoyed life in the country in a house that they built themselves in the town of Novelty, OH. They had a small corn field and invited the family for yearly corn roasts. Ed built a small horse barn on the property with the help of the Amish and for many years their daughter Janet enjoyed horse riding, jumping, and 4H. Later in life they moved to Aurora Shores, OH and enjoyed boating and water skiing with their family. As the years passed, they finally moved to a smaller home in Solon, OH and spent their later years fixing it up and enjoying the sunroom they added on.
The family wishes to thank the staff of Mission Oaks Assisted Living (Wildwood, FL) and Cornerstone Hospice (Taveres, FL) who cared for Eleanor over the past year and during her final days. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to Cornerstone Hospice (2445 Lane Park Road, Taveres FL 32778).
