REV. RONALD J. SZUDAREK, age 69. Entered into Heaven on May 21, 2021. He was preceded in death by his parents Stanley and Jean (nee Gos), brother Robert; Uncle Rev. Fr. Francis (Frank) and Aunt Sr. Mary John SSJ-TOSF. He is survived by his brother Timothy and 5 nephews and 1 niece, 4 great nephews and 6 great nieces. Fr. Ron was raised in Slavic Village starting his spiritual journey at Immaculate Heart of Mary Parish and graduated from South High School in 1971. He attended one year at St. Mary’s Seminary in Cleveland and continued his seminary studies at St, Mary’s College and St. Cyril and Methodius Seminary in Orchard Lake, Michigan, graduating with his Masters of Divinity in 1981. His Ordination for the Cleveland Diocese was at the Cathedral of St. John the Evangelist on 13 June 1981. His first assignment was at Sts. Peter and Paul. On 24 June 1986 he was assigned to St Thomas the Apostle, Sheffield Lake. Fr. Ron was then assigned to Corpus Christi on June 16, 1988 and became pastor at Corpus Christi Parish in May 1991. Major health issues precluded his medical retirement in September 2008. He was a 4th degree Knight and the active chaplain of the Knights of Columbus Council 4130 in Garfield Hts. He was also active in Trinity Council 4217. In lieu of flowers Fr. Ron asked for donations be given to Orchard Lake Schools, Orchard Lake, Michigan; St., Mary’s Seminary, Cleveland, Ohio or The Infirmed Priest Fund Diocese of Cleveland. Friends will be received THURSDAY, June 10, 2021 from 5-8 PM at GOLUBSKI FUNERAL HOME, 5986 RIDGE RD., PARMA and on Friday, June 11, 2021 2-3 PM at St. Colette Church, 3:00 PM Vespers with friends received after Vespers from 4-8 PM. Funeral Mass 11:00 a.m. Saturday, June 12, 2021 at St. Colette Church. Interment St. Mary Cemetery, Cuyahoga Heights. Fr. Ron had a strong devotion to Mary with his funeral Mass to be held on the Memorial of The Immaculate Heart of Mary. On Sunday, June 13, 2021 Fr. Ron would be celebrating his 40th anniversary as a priest.
